lame lips.

i have almost no lips, one lipstick lasts me 25 years. seriously, i bought these when i was born.

from left to right: 1. "siren" by revlon 2. "wink for pink" by revlon 3. "impassioned" by mac 4. "va va violet" by revlon

siren - bright orange i've been wearing for summer.

wink for pink - a flowery pink i wear every time i'm in the mood to watch dolly parton movies.

impassioned - i've been wearing the heckkkk out of this color! it easily jazzes up an all black outfit.

va va violet - this is my newest color i've purchased...i am excited to whip this one out more!

this has been my friday night. who needs havasu and the beach when you can stay home and try on lipsticks for labor day weekend????

moments i do not live for.

came up with a list of moments that i've encountered in my lifetime that i could REALLY do with out...

when you pull out a cup when a guest is at your house and you realize you failed to wash the lipstick stain correctly off of the cup.

the awkwardness of not answering your phone because you know it’s a bill collector...friend: “aren’t you going to get that bruh?” you: “nope, i'm giving YOU my undivided”

when you can't think straight because you have to go #2 while someone is talking your ear off.

when you have to hypocritically agree with someone while they are proclaiming their hate for people that put the oj container back in the fridge with only a little bit of juice left.

coming up with an excuse as to why you don’t want your dude to go with you to get your eyebrows done because you know you also have to get your lip done this time too.

grabbing a cup that is hot but having to play it off that it didn’t hurt that bad in order to save some cool points (you're running low)

attempting to slam your door to show you are mad but the door catches some wind and ends up shutting lightly or not at all. So you have to do a “do-over”

strategically planning when you will go #2 at work so that no one knows it was you.

going for coffee on a "first date" (coffee is such a safety zone) you take a gulp of your excruciatingly hot coffee (as opposed to a sip because apparently all cerebral matter is absent on first dates)then not knowing where to spit it, because you don't want to spit it back in the cup and reveal who you REALLY are on the first meeting; so instead you just swallow the scorching coffee while all of your taste buds singe off on the way down.

back in college not understanding what the professor was talking about so you decide to take a light nap - which turns into a slobber fest...this then leads to you waking up from a mild heart attack because your head slipped from your fist nearly smashing your face on to the desk.

don't know if anyone can relate but if not, entertain yourself with my hapless moments. good day.

criticism is a hell of a drug.

i am currently looking for the perfect collection of bow ties for the fall/winter months that are quickly approaching. neutral tones for the fall months and then some sort of rich colored polka dot/busy pattern for the winter months.

i love how the textures of the bow ties completely change the persona of them. the knit bow tie is fun while the woven silk has a sort of sophistication to it. can't wait to play around with them.

while i'm here i'd like to say a few things about my style. i feel i have many "different looks" which i'm sure many understand. there are times when i am more contemporary and times when i'm more ethnic. different ends of the spectrum indeed, and you will also see me in everything in between. isn't that what is fun about dressing each day? i never find it a "chore" to pick my clothing out...it actually excites me.

i get a lot of, "that looks so cool on you but i could never pull that off" although i know some things that look good on one body type won't necessarily look as good on another, i feel that for the most part, when it comes down to trying something new out on yourself you should go for it! the only person that holds you back from doing it is you. life is WAY too short to worry about what other people think.

if someone isn't staring at the turban on your head, the natural curls on your head, or the almost black lipstick you're wearing then you aren't doing something right! i would hate to be overlooked in a crowd because i felt i "couldn't pull it off" be free and confident in YOU. that is all.

french toast.

i kiss with my eyes open.
i've tried closing them but it feels stiff and cumbersome.
i fake the shell.
i have quite the substance inside.
no one has fancied my validity.
in return, i have questioned every one's conviction- intentions.
over-analysis perhaps.
not sure if it has benefited or exacerbated my situation.
i can not stand an ambiguous person.
i need it straight and to the point.
but for some reason he makes me fear saying the truth.
fearful of what he will think of me.
80/20.
i may sometimes act like one.
think like one.
lack feelings like one.
sheesh, sometimes eat like one.
but damn it i'm still NOT one.
i AM a woman.
he is so aloof. i am too recondite for simplistic ways.
but i can't force french toast down an anorexic.
so i will save the delicacy for someone who enjoys powdered sugar and syrup on egg-battered bread.
i made that up as i was typing it. ehhh it works for now...

july.

1. spiderman shoes in my size. yup they light up!
2. san clemente, california.
3. perfect view with my son.
4. market night after saying hello to oliver and goodbye to ghop.
5. free slurpee.
6. newport beach, california. son on his skateboard, he's a big deal.

independence day, my 25th year on this earth, a death, a birth, and an epiphany. july came and went ridiculously fast but was filled with laughs and tears alike. im still standing after it all...a good sign.

dear august,
go hard or go home.

regards,
natalie.

pink crocs.

Stopped at the grocery store to buy cake mix, bacon, and sour straws - the essentials of a good time. The lady behind me in line was standing so close to me, I could feel her breath on my left shoulder.

I don't know much about her, except that she enjoys wearing pink crocs and was in line for a can of cat food and two apples. I was annoyed.

As I was leaving, she stopped me and reminded me to grab my Jager that I had left...she wasn't that bad after all.

This is how the night ended. "My Buddy" in the ice chest...

calm down.

i hear life at the cemetery and i can't help but wonder if mine will ever be the same.

i get jealous of the bugs at the cemetery.
they're still alive.

they aren't pests here. they are who i envy.

the tears that fall from my cheek onto the blade of grass and down to the soil represent life, emotion, and love.

i will cherish each breath until we meet again.

im on a boat!

celebrated one of my dearest friends 25th birthday on friday evening. we cruised long beach harbor on a boat with a group of our closest. my quote for the night, "live a little eh?!"

angela, you are like a rare piece of art. here is to 100 more deranged, delightful, clusterfluck-filled years.

happy birthday.

still moments.

"Natalie your dad and I used to cruise to this on two dollars worth of gas and a six pack..."

Friday night I watched the band WAR with my mom. In the middle of their set, I looked over at my mom-in her signature Ray Ban 1952 Wayfarers, singing her heart out.

I saw the youth in her and at that very moment in time I knew everything was going to be ok.

I live for these moments. Complete serenity.

iNeed.

i've been wanting a turban for a while now. i've practiced and practiced in the mirror at home with a scarf and i just can't get it. i probably need to study some more...

i think i will just purchase one and try and master the "DIY turban" later. i've seen a few from urban outfitters, but i really want a natural looking one and not a so manufactured look to it...

some different looks for the turban but all equally dapper...

fashion stylist, June Ambrose, knows how to do it RIGHT.

not a huge fan of the fabric on this turban but proof that you can wear them in any season.

like i said earlier, i'm liking the more "authentic" looking turbans.

OK, i must now depart from the turban search. my young one has set up candy land and has been patiently waiting for me to WHOOP SOME CANDY LAND TAIL...competition at its finest!!

Enjoy your Saturday.

blank thoughts.

From "WTF Am I Doing Up?"

March 30, 2011 12:16 AM...

"I'm not worried that it will be hard to sever the “relationship” once it’s time, it's just weird to sit in a room, lay in a bed, share thoughts with a man that you will guaranteed, at one point, stop talking to. I'm not sure I've ever confidently felt otherwise while spending time with someone. Curse? Blessing? Not sure."

my mind never stops. at night, my mac is at bedside, so when my mind hinders a healthy night of sleep, i grab it and put it somewhere else...

i write it down and then will randomly look back. this struck me though. nothing has changed with this person. how much longer? what purpose is this person holding in my life? or maybe what purpose am i holding in theirs? im leaning towards wasted time.

donald glover. simply amazing.

actor, writer, comedian, musician, rapper, donald.

wrong that i feel i know this guy personally? no. he just makes you feel that way.if you don't know about this guy, get to know about him. simply amazing.

ways you can accomplish that:
1. through his website iamdonald.com
2. through his music, rapper alias, Childish Gambino.
3. watch him on NBC's Community Thursday evenings.

donald has many talents, among them being his sense of style, eccentricity at its finest. i am excited to see mr glover's continued success.

heavy tongue. heavy mind.

such a long time since i've posted on here. one thing and one thing only has pushed me to come back to this...

it is getting harder and harder for me to hold my tongue these days.

i need an outlet, and i remembered this was the entire point of me creating this. a place where i can say what i want and people can choose to read it or not. the raw natalie if you will.

i write every day of my life. i document something EVERY SINGLE DAY. whether it is just a couple of thoughts in my blackberry or an entire 2 pages on my mac. very therapeutic, and highly anticipated...well anticipated by those that know that about me. it is a way to be myself, i don't have to fake the funk for anyone, i am the only person who reads it.

it is tiring to have to monitor yourself ALL day long. writing helps me keep myself grounded. helps me remember who i am.

i am going to try harder to share my thoughts here as well, this blog is easily forgotten by me. i guess the other sources mentioned are just more accessible. but maybe something i say will move someone browsing...who knows.

i have a couple of projects i want to start working on. hopefully, i will be able to share them on here in the future. until then, i bid you a good day/evening.

stay true and let go of your tongue.
